IRS to Send Reminders About Rebates

Posted by aylor on February 29, 2008

Here is something funny to think about…I saw this on someone’s blog and thought it was worth sharing.

130,000,000 households x $0.41 first class rate = $53,300,000.00

It’s going to cost the government 53.3 million dollars to let us know we’re getting a tax rebate. Let’s assume these letters are mailed standard at a bulk rate, you’re still looking at over 33 million dollars and this doesn’t include the cost of producing these letters.

Find someone who doesn’t already know they’re getting a rebate and punch that person in the gut, it’s cheaper than spending 53 million dollars. I can think of a few other things that may be a better investment…

As you may know, I am a pretty simple minded man and I am easily entertained.  Rhett and Link (rhettandlink.com) are a couple of really funny guys that make me laugh.  For those of you that are addicted to Facebook…enjoy!

Why the foosball title?

Posted by aylor on December 18, 2007

I must admit, I have never been good at foosball…which is surprising to me because I am usually good at everything…just ask my wife. As a matter of fact, in my opinion, foosball is a pretty good waste of time. But no matter how bad I am at foosball, I have always been intrigued by the game. What’s there not to love about a game that features funny looking midgets and a miniature soccer ball? Whether you are good at it or not, you gotta admit, it is entertaining to watch the overly-passionate foosball player spin their little people.Just like the game of foosball, I am guessing that this blog will consist of some mindless yet somewhat interesting/entertaining ideas.Play a little foosball? (any ‘Dazed and Confused’ fans out there?)

Is it great? Or is it just good enough?

Posted by aylor on December 18, 2007

I came across a quote the other day by C.S. Lewis that has haunted me ever since…it deals with excellence. Many times we settle for something that is subpar and label it as “good enough”…when in reality, it is poor. It is my opinion that Christians should be leading the way when it comes to providing excellence instead of recreating or copying popular culture and placing a Christian spin on it. The bottom line it simple…if it is worth doing, it is worth doing well! I now have this quote as my screen saver to remind me to always give God my best in everything I do. Just thought I would pass it along…”

“Let choirs sing well or not at all. Otherwise we merely confirm the majority in their conviction that the world of business, which does with such efficiency so much that never really needed doing, is the real, the adult, and the practical world; and that this culture and religion (horrid words both) are essentially marginal, amateurish, and rather effeminate activities.”  C.S. Lewis

Blogger or WordPress?

Posted by aylor on December 13, 2007

I am in the process of deciding which way to go with my blog…Blogger or WordPress?  As you can tell, I am a rookie when it comes to this blogging thing so if you have an opinion on this issue…don’t be shy!  After exploring the basics of both, I am finding that Blogger is easier to operate…any thoughts?  While I am deciding, you can get to my blogger site by going to www.steveaylor.blogspot.com

Welcome to my cluttered mind

Posted by aylor on December 10, 2007

Well, I finally caved in to the peer pressure of blogging. After months of reading the blogs of friends and family, I thought that the world needed an inside look at my random mind. So, here it goes…this blog will be a collection of the many things that run through my mind each day–I apologize in advance for wasting your time!
